SUBLIME FOLK

A collective of sublime folk musicians. Conceived and directed by Stompin' Dave Allen who has promoted and presented Sublime Folk concerts across the West Country.

Sublime Folk shows, so far, have featured three (sometimes two) unique acts on one bill including superb, singer, songwriter and guitarist Maurice Dickson from Northern Ireland with ace traditional Irish piper Catherine Ashcroft. Also Stompin' Dave Allen, Bridport's banjo & fiddle whiz, and Bournemouth's favourite acoustic duo Tinderbox.

Belfast born Maurice Dickson, a professional musician for over thirty years has built an enthusiastic audience for his powerful brand of contemporary folk, Irish folk & blues. This journeyman has toured across the UK, Ireland, Europe and America. He has performed at many of the major folk festivals including Sidmouth, Edinburgh, Shetland, Belfast, Aaron, and Cork. A true one of a kind, highly versatile, Stompin' Dave performs American roots music on vocals, guitar, five-string banjo, fiddle, piano, harmonica, and flatfoot dancing. Dorset based Dave has been very active the past ten years working across the UK and beyond, giving at least one hundred and fifty performances each year. He has performed at Glastonbury Festival, The Great Dorset Steam Fair & Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival to name but a few.

Tinderbox recently returned from a yet hugely successful US tour where they received standing ovations. This original acoustic folk duo feature the "honey-like" vocals of Monique Houraghan, and the intricate finger style guitar of Dan Tucker. They have supported many high profile acts, such as Ralph McTell, Martin Carthy & Dave Swarbrick. They have performed across the UK with appearances including Wimborne, Swanage, & Wadebridge Folk Festivals.

Tinderbox have recently returned from Caceres, Spain where they were awarded  “Best European Revelation Group 2010” by Premios Pop-Eye Gala Awards. March 2011 will see a debut headline appearance at Dublin’s famous ‘Whelans’
